GitQuest Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to GitQuest ("we", "our", "us"), a platform designed to gamify the software development process by rewarding contributions to GitHub repositories and open-source projects. By using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"), along with our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use GitQuest. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use this service.

3. Account Creation

To participate, you may need to create an account on GitQuest. You are responsible for keeping your account information secure and updating it as needed. You agree not to share your login credentials with anyone.

4. Points System

Our platform rewards GitHub activities with the following points:

• +10 points per commit
• +50 points per pull request
• +20 points per code review
• +30 points per issue fixed
• +50 points bonus for connecting GitHub account
• These are examples and the points are subject to change at any time

5. Premium Services

GitQuest offers premium features through various subscription plans and payment options:

• Monthly subscription
• Annual subscription
• Lifetime access (one-time payment)

Premium features include but are not limited to:

• Creation and management of private leaderboards
• Access to the professional resume builder
• Access to exclusive prizes and rewards
• Membership in the Premium Leaderboard
• Access to detailed statistics and analytics
• Enhanced profile and project visibility

6. Payment Terms

By purchasing a premium subscription or lifetime access, you agree to the following terms:

• All payments are processed securely through Stripe, our payment processor
• Subscriptions will automatically renew unless canceled before the renewal date
• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
• No refunds will be issued for partial subscription periods or canceled subscriptions
• Lifetime access is a one-time payment that grants permanent access to premium features
• Prices are subject to change with notice to existing subscribers
• You are responsible for all charges incurred under your account

For subscription management, including cancellation, you can access your billing portal through your account settings. Changes to subscriptions will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

7. Ad Services

We offer the following ad visibility options:

• Premium Leaderboard Spot: $69/week
• Standard Leaderboard Spot: $29/week
• Message Promotion: $99/month

All these ad services are subject to availability and our approval process.

Payments for ads are non-refundable.

8. Prohibited Activities

You agree to use GitQuest only for lawful purposes. Prohibited activities include:

• Engaging in fraudulent or deceptive activities
• Violating the intellectual property rights of others
• Abusing, harassing, or threatening other users
• Interfering with the normal operation of the service
• Creating artificial or automated contributions to manipulate points
• Making repeated minor or meaningless contributions solely to gain points
• Using multiple accounts to circumvent system limitations

Violation of these terms, particularly regarding contribution manipulation, may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban from the platform.

9. Repository Responsibility

By installing the GitQuest application on a repository, you warrant that:

• You have the necessary rights and permissions to install the application on the repository
• You accept full responsibility for any consequences of installing and using GitQuest on your repositories
• You will not hold GitQuest responsible for any damages or issues arising from the application's use
• You understand that GitQuest may collect and process repository activity data as described in our Privacy Policy

10. Limitation of Liability

GitQuest is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We shall not be liable for any:

• Direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• Issues arising from technical malfunctions or service interruptions
• Damages resulting from third-party actions or content

Our total liability for any claims relating to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for premium services in the past 12 months, if any.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to GitQuest at any time, without notice, for violating these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
